Back ground: Colorectal cancer incidence in Indonesia is very high, and so do the mortality. In 2002 colorectal cancer occupies have a second rank at cancer case whose found on males, while at females colorectal cancer occupies have a third rank. for most cancers, marked geographical variations in incidence rates that are found, reflecting sosioeconomic differences, particularly between the developing and the developed countries.
Purpose: To explore the colorectal cancer distribution pattern based on age, gender, histopathologic type, and cancer location at Abdul Wahab Sjahranie general hospital, 2000-2005.
Method: Analysis and summary were made for 93 patients pathologically confirmed for colorectal cancer from 2000-2005 at Abdul Wahab Sjahranie General Hospital.
Result: Data analysis out of 83 colorectal cancer patients pathologically confirmed for colorectal cancer in males and females age ranged from 4-92 years, with average age of onset at 48.46 ± 15.1 years. Cancer frequency based on age for younger persons (< 65 years) is 71 (86%) patients, and for elderly persons (≥ 65 tahun) 12 (14%) patients; frequency based on gender founded in females 45 (54%) patients and males 38 (46%) patients; frequency based on histopathologic type founded that adenocarcinoma type 65 (79%) patients, mucinous adenocarcinoma type 11 (13%) patients, signet ring cell carcinoma type 4 (5%) patients, squamous cell carcinoma type 2 (2%) patients, and mucoepidermoid carcinoma type 1 (1%) patients; frequency based on cancer location in rectum 42 (52%) patients, colon rectosigmoid 18 (22%) patients, colon 16 (19%) patients, anus 2 (2%) patients, perianal 2 (2%) patients, anorectal 1 (1%) patients, colon transversum 1 (1%) patients, and caecum 1 (1%) patients.
Conclusion: Colorectal cancer distribution in A.W.Sjahranie General Hospital during 2000-2005 The most object is younger persons (< 65 years) 71 (86%) patients, the most object gender is females 45 (54%) patients, the common histopathologic type is adenocarcinoma type 65 (79%) patients, cancer location are common to resides in rectum is 42 (52%) patients.
